PEMBROKE, N.C. -- The Lander women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches and three of six singles to claim a 5-4 Peach Belt Conference victory over UNC Pembroke Tuesday afternoon.

Lander improves to 9-5 overall and 4-5 in the PBC, while UNCP is 11-10, 3-6.

In singles, No. 1 Linda Tatala-Colin (UNCP) def. Anni Pajunen, 6-1, 6-0; No. 2 Jenn McGary (UNCP) def. Vuokko Vahatalo, 7-5, 6-4; No. 3 Eliza Adusumilli (L) def. M. Quintero-Prieto, 6-0, retired; No. 4 Nicola James (L) def. Christian Minnick, 6-1, 6-3; No. 5 Caitlin Fell (L) def. Meredith Pierson, 6-2, 6-1; and No. 6 Janna Oxendine (UNCP) def. Ana Maria Zaia, 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles, No. 1 Tatala-Colin/McGary (UNCP) def. Zaia/Pajunen, 8-0; No. 2 Adusumilli/James (L) def. Minnick/Quintero-Prieto, 8-1; and No. 3 Fell/Vahatalo (L) def. Oxendine/Pierson, 8-5.
