FLORENCE - The Lander softball team splits its games Saturday at the Patriot Invitational when the Bearcats defeated St. Thomas, 3-0, then lost to St. Leo, 3-0, at the Freedom Florence Recreation Complex.

Lander is 10-13 overall on the season.

Against St. Thomas, Nikki Brown (1-0) earned the win as she struck out three and allowed three hits in five innings pitched. Hayley Leissner pitched the final two innings in relief and struck out four with no hits allowed.

Lander took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on Daisy Stewart's solo home run, then stretched the lead to 3-0 on Sara Senn's two-run triple in the seventh.

Haley Foster and Natalie Smith both doubled for the Bearcats.

Against St. Leo, Leissner (6-10) suffered the loss as she struck out 10 and allowed one earned run.
