AMERICUS, Ga. - The No. 40 Lander women's tennis team ran its record to 8-1 Friday afternoon when the Lady Bearcats defeated Georgia Southwestern, 8-1, in a Peach Belt Conference match at the Susan K. Smith Complex.

Lander improves to 3-1 in the PBC, while GSW drops to 2-11 overall and 0-6 in the PBC.

In singles, No. 1 Anni Pajunen (L) def. Leady Cuellar, 6-3, 7-6, 7-4; No. 2 Vuokko Vahatalo (L) def. Lauren Grogan, 6-0, 6-0; No. 3 Eliza Adusumilli (L) def. Monica Osam, 6-0, 6-0; No. 4 Caitlin Fell (L) def. Ashley Waters, 6-1, 6-1; No. 5 Nicola James (L) def. Leighann Fall, 6-0, 6-1; and No. 6 Melanise Newbold (L) def. Adrienne Demarest, 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles, No. 1 Cuellar/Grogan (GSW) def. Pajunen/Zaia, 9-7; No. 2 James/Adusumilli (L) def. Waters/Bowden, 8-0; and No. 3 Fell/Vahatalo (L) def. Fall/Demarest, 8-0.
