AIKEN - Chris Commons scored a game-high 17 points to lead the No. 14-ranked USC Aiken men's basketball team to a 68-53 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander in the Convocation Center.
USCA improves to 19-5 overall and 14-3 in the PBC, while Lander drops to 11-12 overall and 7-10 in the PBC.
Houston Wright led Lander with 13 points, while Greg Smalls added 11 and Ford Lawrence 10. Brenton Harris led the Bearcats in rebounds with 11.
In addition to Commons, Josh Dollard added 16 points and 13 rebounds for USCA, while Javonte Clanton added 15 points and Casey McMasters 11.
The Pacers, who led 31-24 at halftime, made 24-of-50 field goals for 48 percent, including 7-of-17 three pointers for 41.2 percent. USCA also made 13-of-15 free throws for 86.7 percent.
Lander connected on 19-of-60 floor shots for 31.7 percent, 4-of-12 three pointers fro 33.3 percent, and 11-of-19 foul shots for 57.9 percent.
The Bearcats will host Clayton State at 4:30 Saturday in a Homecoming game in Horne Arena.
