GREENWOOD - Francis Marion's Ashley Underhill and Jess O'Leary each posted double-doubles Saturday afternoon to lead the Patriots' volleyball team to a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander in Horne Arena. Game scores were: 22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23.
FMU improves to 10-10 overall and 3-6 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 13-9, 5-5.
Melissa McCracken led the Bearcat attack with a game-high 21 kills and 21 digs and registered a .348 hitting percentage. Magi Nottingham and Lindsey Everhart added 13 and 10 kills respectively, while setter Candace LaRocca had 45 assists and Ashley Ferry recorded 29 digs. LaRocca and Ferry each had two service aces.
For FMU, Underhill had 12 kills and 15 digs and O'Leary 24 assists, 19digs and two service aces to lead the Patriots. Hallie Legg added 12 assists and seven digs. Ashlee Crook and Liz Drewry each had six block assists and one solo block, while Mallory Eggert had nine kills and three block assists.
Lander will host Queens University at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20 in a non-conference game.
