GREENWOOD - The Lander men's soccer team remained unbeaten in Peach Belt Conference play Thursday night when the Bearats defeated USC Aiken, 3-2, on a sloppy field.
Lander improves to 6-4-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the PBC, while USCA falls to 4-8-1, 1-4.
Lander took a 1-0 lead at 18:13 when Jamie Davison tipped in Adam Arthur's missed shot in front of the goal.
Aaron Brittain gave the Bearcats a 2-0 lead at 20:19 on a shot from the right side of the goal on an assist from Davison.
The Bearcats stretched the lead to 3-0 at 38:41 when Ivan Stoykov scored on an assist from Samy Beydoun.
But USCA rallied. The Pacers cut the margin to 3-1 at 47:08 on John Lesko's goal from in front of the net. He was assisted by Svetlin Penchev. The Pacers made it 3-2 on Brett Van Pelt's unassisted goal at 63:54.
USCA outshot Lander, 13-12, and led in corner kicks, 4-3.
Lander goalkeeper Matthew Atkinson recorded five saves, while USCA's Charles Andray also had five.
The Bearcats travel to UNC Pembroke on Saturday for a PBC contest.
