HICKORY, N.C. - The Lander volleyball team dropped to 12-8 overall Tuesday night when the Bearcats lost to Lenoir-Rhyne College, 3-0, in a non-conference match in Shuford Gymnasium. Game scores were: 25-20, 25-18, 25-10.
Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 15-9 overall.
Lander's Melissa McCracken had nine kills, while Candace LaRocca added 22 assists. Chelsey Corgan had a game-high 20 digs and Magi Nottingham and Abbey Focht recorded 10 each. Courtney Simmons added two solo blocks.
Lenoir-Rhyne was led by Chelsea Hill (11 kills), Lindsey Cantu (9 kills, 15 digs), Meredith Lutz (31 assists), Marrissa Church (14 digs) and Cayla Crawley (11 digs).
Lander will host UNC Pembroke in a Peach Belt Conference match at 7 p.m. Friday, and Francis Marion at 3 p.m. Saturday.
