PEMBROKE, N.C. - Demarcus Lyday scored 16 points, while Brandon Thomas and Marcus Heath added 14 each Monday night to lead the UNC Pembroke men's basketball team to a 69-67 Peach Belt Conference win over Lander at the English E. Jones Center.
UNCP improves to 5-10 overall and 2-6 in the PBC, while Lander falls to 8-5, 4-3.
Lander was led by Curtis Milner and Houston Wright, who scored 11 and 10 points respectively. Greg Smalls grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.
Lander, which trailed 37-26 at halftime, made 26-of-64 field goals for 40.6 percent, including 4-of-28 three pointers for 14.3 percent. The Bearcats also connected on 11-of-16 free throws for 68.8 percent.
UNCP was 24-of-60 from the floor for 40 percent, including 7-of-22 three pointers for 31.8 percent. The Braves made 14-of-23 foul shots for 60.9 percent.
