MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Dominique Huffin scored 13 of her 18 points in the second half Saturday afternoon to lead the Georgia College & State University women's basketball team to a 71-60 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander at the Centennial Center.
GCSU improves to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the PBC, while Lander falls to 7-4, 2-2.
Huffin finished at 7-of-13 from the floor, including a 3-of-6 effort from behind the arc. Her five offensive rebounds also led the team. Senior Tiauna Brantley chipped in with a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double, her second of the season. Junior point guard Shandrea Moore had 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Lander's sophomore guard TaSheba Butler powered the Bearcat attack with a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double. She got help from sophomore Shannon McKever's 13-point, 11-rebound double-dip with four blocks and 14 points off the bench from Jasmine Judge.
The Bobcats caused an impressive 21 turnovers on the league's second-highest scoring offense, while giving up just 13.
The two teams traded blows for much of the second half, with Lander getting its final advantage 53-51 on a pair of Judge free throws with 8:13 left. GCSU finished the game with a 20-7 run to take the game, eight points coming from Huffin during that stretch.
