SPARTANBURG - The Lander volleyball team improved to 12-3 overall Saturday when the Bearcats defeated Converse College and Belmont Abbey in a tournament hosted by Converse.

Lander defeated Converse, 25-15, 25-15, 25-20, then downed Belmont Abbey, 25-11, 25-14, 25-10.

Against Converse, Kay Stewart had 15 kills, four digs, two service aces and one block assist, while Candace LaRocca had 36 assists; Magi Nottingham had nine kills and 13 digs; Kendall Eayrs five kills, three solo blocks and three block assists; and Marina Camps, 12 digs.

Against Belmont Abbey, Nottingham had 13 kills and nine digs; LaRocca 34 assists and four digs; Camps 14 digs; and Ashley Ferry four kills, five digs and one block assist.
