GREENWOOD – Lander freshman Charlotte Hall scored the first two goals of her college career, leading the Lady Bearcats to a 4-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over Converse College Wednesday night.
Jannica Finnberg added a goal and an assist for Lander, which improved to 3-0. Converse fell to 0-5.
Hall gave the Lady Bearcats a 1-0 lead six minutes into the match when she scored off a deflection of her own shot. Hall took one shot that Converse goalkeeper Ashley Mercuri deflected. The ball came right back to Hall, who put it in the back of the net.
Finnberg made it 2-0 at the 25-minute mark when she scored on a header off a cross from Rachel Datz. Lander outshot the Valkyries 16-0 in the first half and led 2-0 at the break.
The Lady Bearcats put the match away early in the second half with two goals about one minute apart.
Hall rifled in a long shot from way outside the box off an assist from Christin Moss at the 54:28 mark. At 55:37, Moss was on the receiving end, scoring on a header in front of the goal off Finnberg's cross from the left side.
Lander outshot Converse 35-0 with Rachael Hine, Katherine Baltz and Rachel Baggett combining for the shutout. Mercuri had eight saves for Converse while Kaitlyn Price added two.
