WINGATE, N.C. - The Lander volleyball team opened the 2008 season with a 3-0 non-conference victory over St. Andrews Presbyerian at the Wingate Invitational Friday evening. Lander defeated St. Andrews, 25-23, 25-11, 25-15.

Lander is 1-0 overall, while St. Andrews falls to 0-1.

Kay Stewart led the way with 13 kills, while Kerri Sorensen added seven. Candace LaRocca posted 34 assists, while the Bearcats had six service aces, 55 digs and three team blocks.
