ANDERSON - The Lander women's tennis team won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles Tuesday afternoon to defeat Anderson University, 6-3, in a non-conference match.

Lander improves to 11-8.

In singles, No. 1 Margarita Aheychencko (AU) def. Fernanda Oliveira, 6-3, 7-5; No. 2 Brittany Beal (AU) def. Vuokko Vahatalo, 7-6, 6-4; No. 3 Anni Pajunen (LU) def. Jessica McDonald, 6-1, 6-0; No. 4 Caitlin Fell (LU) def. Tamra Lawler, 6-2, 6-0; No. 5 Ana Maria Zaia (LU) def. Aline Salvany, 6-4, 4-6, 10-6; and No. 6 Melanise Newbold (LU) def. Milena Goncalves, 6-2, 7-6.

In doubles, No. 1 McDonald/Lawler (AU) def. Zaia/Pajunen, 9-8; No. 2 Vahatalo/Fell (LU) def. Goncalves/Aheychencko, 8-6; and No. 3 Oliveira/Emmanouil (LU) def. Salvany/Beal, 8-6.
