AMERICUS, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern softball team swept Lander in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon when the Hurricanes won both games by 2-1 scores. The second game was decided in the eighth inning. (Game 1 Box | Game 2 Box)
Lander drops to 8-25 overall and 1-9 in the PBC, while GSW improves to 15-19, 2-12.
In the first game, Lander took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning, only to have the Hurricanes score two in the bottom of the inning.
GSW's Tiffany Milstid (2-0) earned the win, striking out four, walking two and allowing one earned run on six hits in the seven complete innings.
Lander's Nikki Brown (3-4) suffered the loss as she struck out two, walked one and allowed two earned runs in five innings of relief.
The Bearcats' Lib Harris went 2-for-2 with one RBI and Sara Senn went 2-for-2.
In the second game, GSW's Brittany Milstid (8-8) recorded the victory as she struck out four and allowed one earned run on four hits in seven innings. Lander's Jenna Kellett (2-9) took the loss, striking out seven and allowing one earned run on five hits in seven innings.
GSW's Jessi Croft went 2-for-3 with one double, while Ashley Durden went 2-for-3 with one run scored.
