GREENWOOD - The Lander women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches and five of six singles Monday afternoon to defeat Lees-McRae, 7-2, in a non-conference match at the Joe Cabri Courts.

The Lady Bearcats improve to 7-4 overall.

In singles, No. 1 Christine Vanard (LMC) def. Fernanda Oliveira, 6-1, 6-3; No. 2 Vuokko Vahatalo (LU) def. Andrea Balazsova, 6-3, 6-2; No. 3 Anni Pajunen (LU) def. Ashley Mayers, 6-1, 6-3; No. 4 Caitlin Fell (LU) def. Amanda Nascimento, 6-1, 6-0; No. 5 Ana Luiza Zaia (LU) def. Cameron Joyce, 7-5, 6-3; and No. 6 Melanise Newbold (LU) def. Katie Hawkins, 7-5, 6-4.

In doubles, No. 1 Pajunen/Zaia (LU) def. Balazsova/Nascimento, 9-8; No. 2 Joyce/Vanard (LMC) def. Vahatalo/Fell, 8-6; and No. 3 Kristinanne Emmanouil/Oliveira (LU) def. Hawkins/Mayers, 8-4.
