MORROW, Ga. - The No. 9 Lander men's soccer team tied Peach Belt Conference rival Clayton State 3-3 Saturday night when the Lakers' Leighton Fredericks scored the game-tying goal on an assist from Jonathan McKeever in the 86th minute.
Lander moves to 10-2-2 overall and 4-0-1 in the PBC, while Clayton State is 9-4-3, 3-0-3.
Fredericks gave the Lakers a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute on an assist from Sukhman Ball and Angel Kalinov, but Lander tied the game in the 34th minute when Aaron Brittain found the back of the net off an assist from K.C. Dunbaker.
Clayton State's Johnny Lara gave his team a 2-1 lead from the right side of the penalty box on a pass from Matt Phillips, but Lander retaliated two minutes later Brittain assisted Adam Arthur on a goal to make it 2-2.
The Bearcats finally took their first lead of the game in the 76th minute when Arthur netted the ball on an assist from Ivan Stoykov.
Lander goalkeeper Billy Hale had nine saves, while Clayton's combination of David Cristofoli and Brett Neilson had nine also.
