PEMBROKE, N.C. - Candace LaRocca and Ashley Ferry both posted double-doubles Friday night to lead the Lander volleyball team to a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over UNC Pembroke in the English E. Jones Center. The Bearcats downed UNCP, 25-19, 25-22, 19-25, 25-20.

Lander improves to 16-8 overall and 3-1 in the PBC, while UNCP falls to 11-13, 1-4.

LaRocca, last year's PBC Freshman of the Year, had 39 assists and 21 digs, while Ferry posted 12 kills with 13 digs. Kerri Sorensen added 16 kills and eight digs, Kay Stewart 11 kills, Kendall Eayrs 11 kills and Marina Camps 12 digs.

UNCP was led by Allie Schneider (15 kills, 13 digs), Jessica Hartley (14 kills, three solo blocks, three block assists), Kayla Marbert (28 assists, eight digs), and Whitney Hanlin (23 assists and six digs).
