MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team snapped a three-game skid by defeating Lander University, 2-0, Wednesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
MHC improves to 6-7-3 on the season, while the Bearcats fall to 6-5.
Abby Martin scored on a breakaway at the 59:07 mark to put the first goal on the board. The goal was unassisted. Frankie Armstrong added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute on a through ball from Patrice Superville.
MHC out shot Lander, 13-8, while the Bearcats edged the Lions in corner kicks, 4-2.
Becca Sellars played all 90 minutes in goal for MHC and made four saves, while Lander's Rachel Baggett had three.
