JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The University of Montevallo defeated the Lander volleyball team, 3-1, Friday night in the Carson-Newman October Volleyball Tournament. Montevallo downed the Bearcats, 25-21, 25-13, 16-25, 26-24.

Lander, which drops to 14-6, was led by Kay Stewart with 12 kills, four solo blocks and three block assists; Marina Camps 22 digs and three service aces; Kerri Sorensen 22 digs; and Candace LaRocca 21 assists. Abbey Focht also added 15 assists.

The tournament continues on Saturday when Lander will face King College at 10 a.m. and host Carson-Newman at 2 p.m.
