BELMONT, N.C.----Aaron Brittain scored two goals and Nick Cooke netted one to lead the Lander men's soccer team to a 3-0 non-conference victory over Belmont Abbey Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference game at Alumni Field.

Lander improves to 2-0-1 overall, while Belmont Abbey drops to 3-2.

The Bearcats scored all three of their goals in the first half. Brittain gave Lander a 1-0 at 11:20 when he converted a Drew Courtney assist from 16 yards. Brittain found the goal again in the 17th minute on an unassisted goal to give Lander a 2-0 advantage.

Cook scored the game's final goal at 40:48 on an assist from Brittain.

The Abbey outshot Lander, 16-7, and held an 11-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Lander goalkeeper Garrett Daum recorded nine saves in the game, earning his second shutout of the season. Crusaders goalkeeper Bryan Alenky made two saves.
