AUGUSTA, Ga.----The No. 8-ranked Lander men's tennis team claimed third place in the Peach Belt Conference tournament Sunday when it defeated USC Aiken, 5-1, at the Newman Tennis Center.

Lander improves to 17-6 overall, while USC Aiken drops to 17-6.

The Bearcats won the top two doubles positions, then won singles matches at the Nos. 1, 5 and 6 positions.

In doubles, No. 1 Andre Ivarsson/Joakim Karlsson (LU) def. Ed Horne/Dagoberto Darezzo, 8-6; No. 2 Nicolas Legros/Guilherme Fonseca (LU) def. Wyatt Boylston/Pierre Negri, 9-8; and No. 3 Bruno Seves/Christ Kaetz (USCA) def. Henrik Willers/T.C. Valle, 9-8.

In singles, No. 1 Karlsson (LU) def. Darezzo, 3-0 retired; No. 5 Willers (LU) def. Boylston, 6-4, 6-3; and No. 6 George Wilkinson (LU) def. Kaetz, 6-0, 6-1.
