WINTER PARK, Fla.----The Lander softball team encountered a rough experience Monday as Rollins' Nicole Anderson tossed a perfect game at them in a 7-0 first game, then the Bearcats had just two hits in a 8-0 loss in game two of the non-conference doubleheader Monday at Lake Island Park. Rollins improves to 14-6, while Lander slides to 10-18.
In the first game, Rollins' Anderson improved to 9-5 after striking out 14 Lander batters.
Lander's Ashlea Burdette suffered the loss, striking out three, walking three and allowing seven earned runs on eight hits in six innings pitched.
For Rollins, Stacy Sanders went 3-or-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In the second game, Ingrid Shumacher (5-1) claimed the two-hit shutout with three strikeouts and two walks in five innings.
LU's Austin Murray (4-9) took the loss as she struck out four, walked seven and allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits in 4.2 innings pitched.
For Rollins, Sanders went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run scored and one RBI and Lauren Winney went 2-for-3 with one double and two runs scored.
Melissa Ryals and Kyndall Freer got Lander's lone hits.
