AUGUSTA, Ga.----The Lander men's basketball team held on to the Peach Belt Conference's North Division lead Saturday night despite falling at Augusta State University, 84-70, in a PBC game in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Augusta State, which leads the PBC's South Division, improves to 18-3 overall and 10-0 in the PBC, while Lander drops to 13-8, 7-3.
Jason Davis and Zach Evans scored 11 points each to lead the Bearcats. Curtis Milner led the Bearcats in rebounds with nine and also had two blocked shots.
The Jaguars were led by Ben Madgen's game-high 18 points. Tyrekus Bowman and Daniel Dixon added 11 and 10 points respectively for Augusta State. Bowman also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
ASU, which led 40-30 at halftime, made 27-of-51 field goals for 52.9 percent, 6-of-10 three pointers for 60 percent and 24-of-35 free throws for 68.6 percent.
Lander connected on 26-of-67 floor shots for 38.8 percent, 9-of-26 three pointers for 34.6 percent adn 9-of-15 foul shots for 60 percent.
