SPARTANBURG----The Lander women's tennis team won its second match of the season Monday afternoon when it defeated Converse College, 8-1, in a non-conference match.

Lander improves to 2-4 overall.

In singles, No. 1 Fernanda Oliveira (LU) def. Tina Rohner, 6-0, 6-3; No. 2 Vuokko Vahatalo (LU) def. Rachel Wilkes, 6-0, 6-0; No. 3 Anni Pajunen (LU) def. Ive Jardim, 6-3, 6-2; No. 4 Rhett Smodic (CC) def. Ana Luiza Zaia, 6-2, 5-7, 10-5; No. 5 Nicholi Marsh (LU) def. Lee Cantey, 6-2, 2-6, 10-6; and No. 6 Kristinanne Emmanouil (LU) won by default.

In doubles, No. 1 Vahatalo/Pajunen (LU) def. Rhoner/Smodic, 8-2; No. 2 Oliveira/Emmanouil (LU) def. Jardim/Wilkes, 8-5; and No. 3 Marsh/Zaia (LU) won by default.
