Copeland leads women’s soccer past Limestone, 2-1

GREENWOOD----Stacey Copeland scored two goals, including the game-winner from 30 yards with 38 seconds left in regulation Wednesday night, to lead the Lander women's soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory over Limestone College.

Lander, which is off to its best start in the 10-year history of the program, improves to 9-2 overall, while Limestone drops to 4-7-3.

Copeland gave Lander a 1-0 lead at 31:20 on an assist from Ashton Tatum.

The Lady Saints tied the game at 57:48 when Alexis Brothers scored on an unassisted goal in front of the goal.

Limestone goalkeeper Brittany Clark got her finger tips on Copeland's winner, but not enough to keep the Lady Bearcats from claiming their fourth straight victory.

Lander outshot the Lady Saints, 16-5, and led in corner kicks, 11-1.

Clark had five saves for Limestone, while Lander goalkeeper Rachael Hine had three.
