Lander baseball cruises past Presbyterian, 11-3

CLINTON----Presbyterian College fell to the Lander University Bearcats 11-3 in a non-conference baseball game on Tuesday afternoon at the PC Baseball complex. With the loss PC falls to 8-11 on the season, while Lander improves to 8-6. Both PC and Lander were able to register homeruns today as PC senior Nick Hoffner and Lander senior Ryan Brisby each sent one over the fence.

PC took their only lead early in the game after sophomore Josue Scott scored on a wild pitch in the second inning.

Lander answered back in the next inning with four runs set off by Brisby's solo homer and Jonathan Myers scoring on a throwing error by the catcher. Radley Raven and Jesse Barbaro also registered runs for the Bearcats in the third inning.

Lander added seven more runs including three in the fifth, two in the sixth and two more in the ninth.

PC was able to score a run in each the fifth and eighth innings. Including Hoffner's stand-alone homer in the bottom of the eighth. Sophomore Andrew Cockerham represented the other Blue Hose run when he crossed the plate off of a ground out from freshman Cory Lyda.

Junior relief pitcher Brad Hay (1-1) picked up the win for Lander, while sophomore Ben Dollar picked up his first loss on the season.

Designated hitters led the way at the plate with Barbaro leading his team with three hits and junior Kyle Craven (Savannah, Ga.) leading the Blue Hose with three as well.
