GREENWOOD----The Erskine College softball team remained undefeated Monday when the Flying Fleet swept a non-conference doubleheader against Lander, 3-2 and 9-2.
Erskine improves to 4-0 overall, while Lander drops to 2-6.
In the first game, Elizabeth Miller (2-0) collected the victory, striking out four, walking six and allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits in the complete seven innings. Lander's Austin Murray (0-3) took the loss, walking four and allowing two earned runs in 2.1 innings pitched.
For Lander, Colleen Leggieri went 1-for-3 with one RBI, while Heather Bishop, Amber Yarborough and Ashlea Burdette all collected singles.
For Erskine, Amy Miller, Jenna Burdette, Sharleen Ashby and Rebecca Clontz all singled.
In the second game, the Flying Fleet's Kaitlin Hunt (2-0) recorded the victory, striking out two, walking one and allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits in the complete seven innings. Lander's Ashlea Burdette (2-2) was the loser, striking out three, walking one and allowing eight runs (six earned) on 10 hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
Erskine's Ashley Lafontaine went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI with a solo homerun in the first inning, while Katee Knapp went 1-for-4 with one homerun, two runs scored and one RBI. Burdette (1-for-3, one run scored), Belinda Oakley (2-for-4, one run scored), and Elizabeth Miller (1-for-1, one run scored, one RBI) all doubled. Ashby went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI and Clontz went 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI.
For Lander, Leggieri went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Melissa Ryals (2-for-4, one RBI) and Burdette (1-for-3) both doubled.
