Queens outshoots Lander in NCAA soccer regional

GREENWOOD----The top-seeded Lander men's soccer team saw its chances of repeating as the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional champion slip away Friday evening as the Bearcats lost to No. 4-seeded Queens University of Charlotte in a shootout (2-1) on the Bearcats' field. The game was scoreless after regulation and two overtime periods.

Queens (11-4-3) will face Limestone College (13-2-6) at 1 p.m. Sunday in the regional final at Lander. The regional winner will advance to the Elite Eight. Limestone advanced past USC Upstate in a shootout.

Shane Burroughs and Will Massey both scored penalty kicks for Queens, while Lander's lone score came from Jamie Ramm.

Lander, the No. 7 ranked team in the country, outshot Queens, 14-9, and led in corner kicks, 6-4.

Queens goalkeeper Dan Williams had four saves, while Lander's Garrett Daum had three.
