NEWBERRY, S.C. – The No. 25-ranked Lander men's soccer team tied Newberry College, 2-2, Wednesday in a non-conference game at the Newberry Soccer Complex.
Lander is now 4-1-1 overall, while Newberry is 1-2-1.
Lander took an early 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute when Carlos Lozano headed a cross from Tyler Davis over Newberry goalkeeper Bryan Linn.
The Indians put the tying goal in the net when Jeff Bell scored on a corner kick from Ricardo Silveira in the 59th minute.
Newberry took a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute when Bell scored on an assist from Silveira.
Linn finished the game with seven saves before freshman goalie Will Dieterich, who notched five saves, entered the game. Bearcat goalie Peck recorded three saves.
Luke Ibbetson scored the game-tying goal for Lander in the 81st minute on an assist from Zach Ducey.
Lander outshot Newberry, 24-16.
Lander travels to Charlotte to play Queens College in a 2 p.m., non-conference match on Saturday.
