GREENWOOD – Mars Hill College broke an 11-all tie in the fifth game to defeat the Lander Bearcats 13-30, 30-25, 30-21, 18-30, 15-13 Thursday night in a non-conference volleyball game at Horne Arena.

Lander fell to 7-15 while the Lions improved to 10-16.

Sara Senn led Lander with 17 kills, Kay Stewart had 11, Andrea Griffin 10 and Kerri Sorenson nine. Claire Damon had 34 assists for the Bearcats while Melissa Trippany and Senn had 28 digs apiece. Damon and Senn had four service aces each.

Rebekkah Brown led Mars Hill with 23 kills, including one on match point. Tiffany Oreka had 22 kills, Jessica Britt 39 assists, and Ashley Beasley 12 kills.
