Jaterra Hurst

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Stephanie Gehlhausen, named Jaterra Hurst to her staff in July of 2022.

Hurst comes to Greenwood after spending the last five years at Lees-McRae College as associate head coach. In her time in Banner Elk, N.C., Hurst mentored three All-Conference Carolinas players as well as a Conference Carolinas Player of the Week. In August of 2020, Hurst was also named as the NCAA Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee for Lees-McRae. In this role, she served as the athletic department's main representative for all information relating to national, local and campus level issues of diversity and inclusion as well as the department's promoter of diverse and inclusive practices related to athletics.

Prior to her time as a Bobcat, Hurst was the graduate assistant coach at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga. In her time with the Scotties, Hurst was in charge of a variety of aspects with the program from planning practices to coordinating the team's social media. In addition to her duties with Agnes Scott, Hurst was also the assistant coach for the Douglas County High School Tigers in Douglasville, Ga. where she coordinated fundraising efforts and managed team equipment in addition to her duties on game day. 

Hearst graduated from Belmont Abbey College in 2014 with her bachelor's in Sports Management. The Lithia Springs, Ga. native was a forward and center for the Crusaders from 2010-2014. In her senior season, Hurst and the Crusaders won the program's first NCAA Tournament game since 1999 as they upset third-seeded Wingate. Hurst was also named an All-Academic team member for the Conference Carolinas. After graduation from Belmont Abbey, she went on to graduate from Georgia State University with her master's in Sports Administration.
