Lander University

Darius Carter is entering his second season with the Lander men's basketball team and the first as the Associate Head Coach. Carter was hired in July of 2021. 

Carter also serves as the Defensive Coordinator for the Bearcats.

Carter arrived in Greenwood after stints at Southern Wesleyan and Northern Arizona. 

During his tenure with Southern Wesleyan, he facilitated recruiting, player development and opponent scouting while also acting as the head JV coach. While with Northern Arizona, Carter was the Recruiting Coordinator and Director of Scouting during his three years in Flagstaff, Ariz.

While at Southern Wesleyan, Carter helped turn a team that as two wins in 2018-19 into a squad that captured 20 wins in 2019-20. That turnaround was the largest in the country. He also helped coordinate a top five defense in Conference Carolinas along with the 14th highest 3pt fg defense in the nation. The 2019-20 season also saw the Warriors claim the the CC Tournament Title along with the highest regional ranking in school history and the first ever win against a Div. 1 program in school history.

Carter was a two-time All-SAC recipient as a junior and senior at Tusculum, leading the Pioneers in scoring those seasons. Carter also finished fifth in steals and first in free throws made with the Pioneers.
