MCCORMICK, S.C. – Sarah Reed won her second straight tournament as the Lander women's golf team placed T6 at this year's Savannah Lakes Invitational at Monticello Golf Club.
Reed,
who just yesterday was named the PBC Women's Golfer of the Week, poured in 13 birdies and 32 pars en route to a 4-under performance. She scored 70 in both rounds Monday and finished with a 72 today to maintain her lead after 36 holes. The difference-maker for Reed was undoubtedly the par-5s:
She scored 7-under on those holes throughout the week – two shots better than her closest competitor – and had a 4.42 stroke average.
North Georgia (+5) won the tournament by eight strokes over Anderson. Wingate and Erskine each finished +21 to tie for third in front of fifth-place Lee (+24). Lander and Lenoir-Rhyne were +28.
Lara Stifter opened the tournament with the best round of the week for the Bearcats, a 3-under 69. She finished T20.
Emma Kallkvist was T49 with a three-day score of 232.
Isabel Ewers was two shots back, ahead of
Katy Lansley (238). Individual,
Rachel Bowen, scored 240.
LU has next week off from competition and will return to the course Oct. 5-6 in North Greenville's Glassy Mountain Autumn Classic in Landrum.
