GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The 20th-ranked Lander women's soccer team traveled to face Tusculum on Saturday afternoon and earned a dominating 4-0 win on Pioneer Field. It was TU's 2026 season opener.
The Bearcats improved to 2-0 and have back-to-back wins over a pair of South Atlantic Conference programs that finished in the top-five of the SAC last season – Anderson made the NCAA Tournament as a 7-seed.
Angele Hills scored for the second straight game,
Kylie Wilson also scored and
Ellisyn Poland added her second career goal. The Bearcats' late tally was a Tusculum own-goal on a corner kick. LU put 11 shots on target and now have 20 shots on goal over the opening pair of contests.
Darcy Ahern and
Saige Peterson picked up assists on Wilson's 26th-minute goal as Peterson grabbed her first point as a Bearcat on the play.
Maddie Leber assisted Poland in the 33rd minute and
Rylee King picked up the assist on Hills' goal in the 53rd minute. In all, seven Bearcats registered a point today.
Leah Hayes Coen made three saves in 84 minutes to collect her second win before ceding to
Kambell Robbins for the final six minutes, who had a save of her own.
Lander's next match is at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sep. 2 versus Converse at
Van Taylor Stadium. The Valkyries had a 1-1 draw with Newberry to begin their season Saturday.
