Lander Earns No. 2 Seed in PBC Baseball Tournament; Will Host Opening Weekend

MARTINEZ, Ga. - After its third-straight 20-win conference season, the Lander baseball team has earned the No. 2 seed in the 2026 Peach Belt Conference Baseball Championship and will host a four-team, double-elimination pod at Dolny Stadium beginning Friday, May 1. Lander is the first team in the current two-weekend format to host three consecutive years.

The Bearcats will face seventh-seeded Georgia College and State University on Friday at 4 p.m. in the second game of the day. The opener will feature third-seeded USC Aiken and sixth-seeded Columbus State at 1 p.m.

Lander faced all three teams in its pod during last season's PBC Tournament. The Bearcats opened with a 5-4 win over USC Aiken before defeating Georgia College in back-to-back games to advance to the championship series, where they swept Columbus State to claim the program's first PBC Tournament title since 2014.

The Bearcats won their regular season series against both Georgia College and USC Aiken, dropping the Friday game in each before winning the final two. Columbus State, however, swept Lander earlier this season, marking the Bearcats' last conference series loss of the year.

The winner of the Greenwood bracket will advance to face the winner of the Dahlonega bracket, hosted by regular-season champion North Georgia. Also competing in that pod are No. 8 Middle Georgia, No. 4 Flagler, and No. 5 Georgia Southwestern.

The two bracket winners will meet in a best-of-three championship series hosted by the highest remaining seed on May 7-8.

Tickets will be sold as weekend passes only for $25 and must be purchased in advance. No cash sales will be available at the gate. Students from PBC institutions with a valid ID will be admitted free. Lander All-Sport Passes and faculty/staff IDs will not be accepted.

All tournament games will be streamed on the PBC Sports Network via pay-per-view. A pass for the opening weekend is $25, while a full tournament pass, including the championship series, is $40.
