LAKELAND, Fla. – After traveling east following Monday's game that kicked off the week in Tampa, Lander women's lacrosse dropped a 16-3 decision to No. 2 Florida Southern at Behren Field on Thursday afternoon.
Morgan Hill registered her fourth multi-goal game of her freshman season. The team-leader in goals,
Caroline Nicholson, scored her 12th of the year for the Bearcats (2-4).
Nicholson's goal evened the game at 1 when
Sophie Warren executed a trail-check to perfection and got her the ball wide-open and she buried it.
The Mocs (6-1) didn't let up a goal the remainder of the first half and led 11-1 after 30 minutes.
Both of
Elisha Lowes' free-position shots in the third quarter were saved, and the Bearcats had another pair of shots that were blocked.
Emersin Clamp made three saves during the quarter in relief of
Zoe Cotheran as FSC scored just once to lead 12-1 going into the fourth.
Hill scored twice during a five-minute stretch to make it 12-3 with nine minutes left.
LU will cap off its week at No. 19 Florida Tech on Saturday morning. The game is scheduled to begin at 11.
