Lander to Host 2026 NCAA Super Region II Championship Saturday

GREENWOOD, S.C. — The 12th-ranked Lander Wrestling team will host the 2026 NCAA Super Region II Championship on Saturday inside Horne Arena. The event will serve as the qualifier for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship in Sioux Falls, S.D., on March 13–14.

Super Region II features 12 teams, each allowed to enter one wrestler per weight class into a double-elimination bracket. The top three wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship.

Four other regional tournaments will be held Saturday, and one on Sunday, with 30 qualifiers from each advancing to form the 180-wrestler national championship field.

"Being able to compete at home on the biggest day of the season so far is a massive advantage," said Lander head coach R.C. LaHaye. "We are excited to get out in front of our home crowd one last time this year and hopefully put on a show for them. The goal is for all ten guys to get through to NCAAs."

Lander is the only Super Region II team ranked in the top 25, coming in at No. 12 in the latest NWCA Coaches Poll. Belmont Abbey, King, Montevallo, UNC Pembroke and Newberry all received votes. Coker, Emmanuel, Allen, Lincoln Memorial, Mount Olive and Shorter round out the 12-team field.

Eighteen ranked wrestlers will compete for a spot in the 18-person NCAA Championship bracket in their respective weight classes. Lander leads the way with eight ranked wrestlers. Belmont Abbey has four, Montevallo and UNC Pembroke have two each, and King and Newberry each have one.

Action begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and will continue throughout the day. Matches will follow a running schedule until the placement matches where weight classes will be held until the prior one ends.
