ALBANY, Ga. – The Lander women's soccer team delivered a 5-0 shutout in their first Peach Belt Conference match of the 2025 campaign on Saturday afternoon at the Albany State Soccer Complex.
The win is the second in a row for the Bearcats and improves their record to 4-1-1, 1-0-0 PBC. The Golden Rams fell to 1-3, 0-1-0 PBC.
Reagan Hardy scored for the second consecutive game and opened the scoring in just the third minute.
Peyton Bibbee sent a pass ahead to
Maddie Leber down the right side of the pitch, and she sent in a cross to Hardy who pushed one past the keeper with her right foot.
In the 13th minute, Lander received a penalty kick opportunity after the Golden Rams' keeper collided with a Bearcat in the penalty area.
Rylee King delivered the goal to the top right of the net for a 2-0 advantage.
Paige Bailey nailed a shot from about 25 yards out in the 37th minute to stake Lander to a three-goal lead.
With a little more than a minute remaining in the first half,
Grace Benson sent a cross from the right side that fellow freshman
Fenna de Rooij struck in with her left foot while in a slide for her first collegiate goal and a 4-0 cushion.
Closing the scoring in the 88th minute was
Gabby Redman as she beat the keeper to the bottom left from outside the penalty box with her right foot.
The Bearcats have a week between games before hitting the road for Laker Field at Clayton State next Saturday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m.
