GREENWOOD – Home for the first time since a thrilling season-opening win back on Sept. 4, the Lander women's soccer team picked up another win at
Van Taylor Stadium tonight, this time a 1-0 result versus Tusculum.
The Bearcats improved to 3-1-1 while the South Atlantic Conference's Pioneers fell to 2-3.
Junior
Reagan Hardy intercepted a Tusculum pass in the box in the eighth minute and had one defender to beat – the keeper – and she did it successfully, burying a shot with her left foot for her first career goal and the lone score of the game.
Kylie Wilson nearly headed one in off a corner kick in the 18th minute but the Pioneers registered a team save in stopping her shot.
Lander had five shots on goal in the first half as they controlled much of the first 45 minutes. The second half was more of a stalemate as Tusculum had two shots on goal, both saved by
Leah Hayes Coen, and the Bearcats had none.
Lander is back on the road this Saturday as they open Peach Belt Conference play at Albany State. Kick-off is at 2 p.m. at the ASU Soccer Complex.
