Lander Volleyball Earns 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Lander University volleyball team has been honored with the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT. This national recognition honors the Bearcats' outstanding academic performance during the 2024-25 academic year.

This marks the third time in program history that Lander Volleyball has received the AVCA Team Academic Award, having previously earned the distinction in 2023 and 2009.

The Lander volleyball team posted an impressive 3.48 cumulative team GPA to secure their place among a record-breaking 1,450 collegiate and high school programs nationwide honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award. Presented to teams that maintain a year-long GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale), the award recognizes outstanding academic achievement across all levels of volleyball.

"It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the 2024-25 season have extended to the classroom," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes."

The Bearcats' achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of both the student-athletes and coaching staff in upholding a tradition of academic success alongside athletic performance.
