Sherrod and Puccetti Earn D2CCA All-Region Honors

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Division II Conference Commissioners' Association (D2CCA) announced its 2025 All-Southeast Region team, which included a pair of members of the Lander Baseball team. Redshirt senior outfielder Grant Sherrod earned first-team honors, while graduate student right-handed pitcher Dominic Puccetti was named to the second team. The teams were voted on by the Athletic Communications offices around the Southeast Region (Peach Belt Conference, South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas).

With his first-team selection, Sherrod advances to the D2CCA All-America ballot. The All-America team will be announced later this month.

Sherrod, the Peach Belt's batting champion, hit .408 with 76 RBIs, 19 doubles, and 11 home runs across 57 games. He posted a .626 slugging percentage, .496 on-base percentage, and led the Bearcats with 97 hits. The Sumner, Wash., native was also named NCBWA Southeast Region Player of the Week on March 10.

Puccetti, Lander's ace, finished the season 10-1 with a 3.84 ERA over 91.1 innings pitched in 16 starts. He led the team and the Peach Belt with 105 strikeouts, becoming the first Bearcat pitcher to eclipse the 100-strikeout mark since Will Jones fanned 106 in 2016. Opponents hit just .243 against him.

Sherrod and Puccetti have now been recognized by two of the three major voting organizations: the D2CCA and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) is expected to release its All-Region teams later this month
