Baseball Selected as Eighth Seed in NCAA Southeast Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Fresh off their first Peach Belt Conference Tournament title since 2014, the Lander baseball team has been selected as the No. 8 seed in the Southeast Regional for the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship. The selection marks Lander's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance, joining previous bids in 2012, 2014, and 2016.

The Bearcats (42-13) will head to Salisbury, N.C., for the four-team, double-elimination Salisbury Regional hosted by No. 1 seed Catawba. Lander will face the top-seeded Indians in the opening round on Thursday, May 15, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.

The other first-round matchup will feature No. 4 seed Young Harris and No. 5 seed North Greenville, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. that evening.

The winner of the Salisbury Regional will advance to face the winner of the Belmont Abbey Regional in the Southeast Super Regional—a best-of-three series scheduled for the following weekend. The Belmont Abbey pod includes the host and No. 2 seed Crusaders, No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne, No. 6 North Georgia, and No. 7 Carson-Newman.

Lander is aiming for its third trip to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship in Cary, N.C., having previously reached the final site in 2014 and 2016.
