Lander Falls 9-3 to Francis Marion

GREENWOOD, S.C. — The Lander baseball team fell behind 7-0 after four innings and couldn't find its offensive footing, falling 9-3 to Francis Marion on Tuesday evening at Dolny Stadium. The Bearcats and Patriots split their two scheduled meetings in 2025, with Lander winning 8-5 in Florence on March 18.

Francis Marion (27-9) used a four-run third inning to jump out to a 7-0 lead after four. Garrett Chun (Jacksonville, Fla.) put Lander (24-11) on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth with his first home run of the season, cutting the deficit to 7-1.

Both teams added a run in the sixth on wild pitches. Evan Wickeri (Middleburg, Fla.) drove in Taichi Nakao (Auckland, New Zealand) with a double in the bottom of the seventh to make it 9-3, but the Bearcats couldn't mount a comeback.

Lander returns to Peach Belt Conference action this weekend, hosting USC Beaufort for a three-game series. The series begins Friday, April 4, at 6 p.m., with game two set for Saturday at 2 p.m. and the finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.
