MORROW, Ga. – The Lander men's basketball team's late comeback attempt fell short as they lost 64-58 to Clayton State on Saturday afternoon. It was the second road game for the Bearcats this week.
Noah Dunn led all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting with three trifectas.
Inady Legiste – who surpassed 1,500 career points today – had 18 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
Joining that duo in double figures was
Jeremiah Holloway with 10.
Caleb Williams had a team best 10 rebounds.
Lander (12-9, 6-5 PBC) was down 18 points during the first half to the Lakers (7-15, 1-11 PBC) and went into halftime trailing 37-22.
A jumper from Holloway trimmed the gap to 40-30 five minutes into the second half, and Dunn's 3-ball with 8:36 remaining made it 46-38 Clayton State.
After the Lakers pushed their lead back into double digits, Lander staged a late game comeback attempt over the final 4:40 down 14.
Dunn scored nine points and Legiste added two in an 11-2 run to make it 57-52 with 2:25 to play. The Bearcats got within four points on four occasions the rest of the way but didn't get closer.
