Langley and Bello’s Combined 42 Points Not Enough as Bearcats Fall to Bobcats, 69-61

Milledgeville, Ga. - The Lander Bearcats (8-5, 3-3 PBC) fought hard on the road against Georgia College (10-6, 3-3 PBC) but couldn't overcome a stifling defensive performance by the Bobcats, falling 69-61 in Peach Belt Conference action.

Despite standout games from Quadaija Langley and Aliyah Bello, who combined for 42 points, the Bearcats couldn't find enough offensive firepower to secure the win. Georgia College's defense clamped down on Lander's leading scorer, Shcira Fowles, holding her scoreless over 25 minutes of play.

How it Happened

The Bearcats came out strong in the opening quarter, with Langley and Bello combining for 15 of Lander's 18 points. The Bearcats shot an efficient 42.9 percent from the field, connecting on three triples, but the Bobcats responded with a sharp 87.5 percent shooting performance. The period ended with Lander clinging to an 18-17 lead.

Bello caught fire in the second quarter, hitting two threes and scoring 14 by halftime, while Langley added six with strong drives. Despite Lander's 50 percent shooting, Georgia College's balanced attack, led by Hannah Cail, and second-chance points tied the game 38-38 heading into the locker room at the half.

The Bearcats cooled off in the third, shooting just 31.6 percent from the field. Georgia College's Ashyia Willis and Cail took advantage, combining for 13 points in the frame. A critical defensive stretch by the Bobcats limited Lander's interior presence, and the Bearcats fell behind 54-52 heading into the fourth quarter.

The final quarter was challenging for Lander, as they managed only 25 percent shooting and nine points. Georgia College's defense continued to frustrate the Bearcats, forcing turnovers and shutting down Fowles in the post. Cail capped her dominant performance with a late three-pointer, finishing with a game-high 25 points, sealing the 69-61 win for the Bobcats.
