SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Wednesday evening at Hayden Abney Fulp Field in their first road battle of the season, the Lander women's soccer team put together another stellar performance en route to a 3-0 win over Converse to open the year 4-0-1.
The Bearcats have now extended their clean sheet streak to five consecutive games with their latest polished effort.
Senior
Annika Seifart put Lander on the board in the game's 15th minute with her first score this season.
Katherine Blain followed 15 minutes later with her second goal in as many games after putting the rebound from
Claire Regnault's shot into the bottom left corner of the net. In all, Lander poured eight shots on the Converse (2-3) keeper over the first 45 minutes.
Angele Hills had both Bearcat shots on goal in the second half and she capped the scoring with the third goal of the game – and her third goal this season – in the 76th minute.
Lander's defense only allowed three shots on this week's Peach Belt Conference Goalkeeper of the Week
Leah Hayes Coen, who saved them all.
Lander will stay on the road for its first PBC contest of the campaign against Flagler in St. Augustine, Fla., this Saturday (Sept. 21). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
