ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Lander Women's Lacrosse was held to single-digit goals for the first time all season as the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers outscored the Bearcats 8-3 in the second half to end Lander's season with a 12-8 loss in the Gulf South Conference Tournament semifinals in St. Augustine.
Lander finishes the season at 8-8 while the Chargers improve to 12-6 and have a date with the top-seeded Flagler Saints on Sunday at noon.
In her final game in the Blue and Gold, Alyssa Suchan shared the team lead in points with three alongside Mickey Burnett.
Goals from Suchan and Kayla Smith saw Lander hold a 2-1 lead after one and a 3-0 run off goals from Kasey Bronco, Burnett, and Ella Benson had the Bearcats leading 5-2 midway through the second.
However, from there the Chargers outscored the Bearcats, 10-3. Lander got goals from Burnett and Suchan to tie the game at seven after UAH took the lead but the Chargers scored three straight to grab a lead they would not relinquish.
