GREENWOOD - Oliver Zone's RBI double in the bottom of the tenth inning gave Lander a 3-2 win over Augusta in the opening game of the Peach Belt series.
For the first five innings, it was a pitcher's duel, with neither team able to score. The Jaguars scratched a run across in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, a pitch would hit Ross McCurley, and Gary Garrett singled up the middle to put runners on the corners with one out. After Garrett stole second, Kyle Murphy singled up the middle to score both runners and tie the game at two. The score would remain 2-2 until the bottom of the tenth inning. Taichi Nakao reached on an error to lead off the inning, and Zone laced a double off the right-center field wall to score Nakao and give Lander the win.
Murphy led the Bearcats at the plate, going 2-3 with two runs driven in, while Garrett scored 2-4 with a run scored. Kurt Rogers (2-0) picked up the win, allowing just one hit in two scoreless innings of relief.
