GREENWOOD - Lander and Flagler split their doubleheader on Saturday. The Bearcats won game one 8-4, and the Saints won game two 13-4.
GAME ONE
Ethan Wilder would put Lander on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. Will McClellan was hit by a pitch, and Connor Droze drew a walk. Chris Manriquez singled with two outs to score McClelland and make it 2-0. The Bearcats doubled their lead in the second with an RBI single by Wilder and a bases-loaded walk by Manriquez. Leading the Saints 5-1 in the sixth, Taichi Nakao singled and scored on a double by McClellan to make it 6-1. McClellan later scored on a wild pitch to increase the Lander lead to six, and the Bearcats went on to the 8-4 win.
Wilder was 2-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBIs to lead Lander. McClellan finished the game 2-4 with a double, one run driven in, and two runs scored, and Droze was 2-2 with three walks.
Luke Johnson (3-1) picked up the win, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out two in six and two-thirds innings.
GAME TWO
The Saints would take a 5-0 lead after five and a half innings. In the bottom of the sixth, the Bearcats would get on the board with an RBI double by Connor Droze. Flagler would blow the game open with eight runs over their final three at-bats.
McClellan led the Bearcat offense, going 2-3 with a double and RBI, while Kael Snethen came off the bench and was 2-3 with a double, RBI, and two runs scored.
Bennett Nance (2-3) took the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits in five innings of work.
