Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - Lander clinched the series win with Nova Southeastern with a 9-7 win in game two after the Sharks took game one 4-1.
GAME ONE
Nova scored a run in the third and three in the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead. They would hold Lander scoreless until the ninth inning. Chris Manriquez reached on an error and moved to second base when a pitch hit Oliver Zohn. A single by Gary Garrett loaded the bases for the Bearcats, and Adam Love grounded into a double play to score Manriquez.
Ethan Wilder, Zohn, and Garret had one hit each for Lander. Bennett Nance (1-1) took the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits in six innings.
GAME TWO
The Sharks scored two runs in the bottom of the second to take the early lead. Ross McCurley led off the top of the third with a double down the left-field line and moved up to third on a passed ball. A sacrifice fly by Taichi Nakao scored McCurley to get Lander on the board. A pitch hit Wilder, and Will McClellan homered to left field to make it a one-run game. Connor Droze followed with a solo home run to tie the game up at four.
Nova Southeastern responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to regain the lead 6-4. Garrett led off with a single in the top of the fourth and stole second. He later scored on a double by McCurley, who later scored on a sacrifice fly by Wilder to tie the game at six. The Sharks retook the lead with a single run in the bottom of the fourth.
Droze tied the game up with his second solo home run in the seventh. Droze drew a one-out walk at the top of the ninth, and Jackson Hoshour pinch-ran for him. A double by Manriquez scored Hoshour and gave Lander the lead. A pinch-hit single by Chandler Moeller scored Manriquez and gave the Bearcats a two-run lead. Tyler Overholt pitched a scoreless bottom of the inning to earn his first win of the season.
Droze led the Bearcat offense, going 2-2 with two home runs, two runs scored, and two RBIs. McClelland finished 2-4 with a home run and two runs batted in. McCurley was 2-4 with two doubles and a run driven in.
